The city of Hoboken offers public, public charter and private school options with a variety of educational programs to meet the individual needs of every family.

The Hoboken Family Alliance organizes All Schools Open House events every year and our School Grids, which includes information such as ages/grades served, class schedule, class sizes, tuition, teaching philosophy, open house and tour dates, application deadlines and special needs services for the daycares and schools in the area, will help you navigate the educational options for your children.

HOBOKEN PUBLIC SCHOOL DISTRICT

Preschools - Early Childhood Education Program:

The Hoboken Early Childhood Education Program (PreK3 and PreK4) is administered by the Board of Education and provides free preschool for all three- and four-year-old children living in Hoboken. For some of the Early Childhood Program locations, Hoboken Public School District (HPSD) contracts with two private providers - HOPES Cap, Inc. and Mile Square Early Learning Center. HPSD, HOPES and Mile Square all follow the same program requirements with some slight differences amongst the three.

HOBOKEN PUBLIC CHARTER SCHOOLS

Public charter schools are mission-driven, free public schools that operate independently of local district schools, and are overseen by their own Boards of Trustees. Public charter schools in New Jersey are responsible for adhering to the same standards, regulations, and accountability measures as all other public schools (district and charter) across the state. There is no tuition, and admissions is entirely based on an annual public lottery. All three public charter schools in Hoboken offer a weighted lottery that provides triple the chance to students who qualify as low-income. Please visit each school's website for more information.
