Fall sports programs for special needs children kick off Saturday

HOBOKEN, NJ - Register today for fall  programs starting Oct. 1 for children with special needs. Sports activities go into full swing with the return of the Young Athlete Program training program as part of the Special Olympics and the return of the Red Bulls Believe Soccer Youth program.

On Saturdays  children with special needs who would like to start preparing to compete in the Special Olympics are invited to join the Young Athlete Program, starting Oct. 1. For the past several years the Hoboken Family Alliance has organized fall and spring classes that help children (ages 2 ½ – 7-years old) build sports and athletic fundamentals.

Each session targets a particular skill including throwing, running, kicking, balance, jumping. Classes will run on Saturdays, from 10 am - 11, through Nov. 5, at the St. Francis Community Center, 310 Jefferson St. Register today by calling Theresa Howard at 201.795.5404 or email thoward315@nullgmail.com

On Sundays, children can participate in the community-based soccer training and team placement program for young athletes with disabilities. The program is designed to bring the opportunity of learning and player soccer to any child with special needs.
