Summer Programs at the Hoboken Public Library

The last week of regular Storytimes is June 14 through 18. Summer Storytimes in the Gazebo in Church Park starts on July 6. Tuesday programs begin at 10:30 for infant to 30 months. Wednesday programs begin at 10:30 for 31 months to 5 years. NO REGISTRATION REQUIRED. In case of rain or too hot weather, we'll move the program into the library.

No afterschool storytimes, throughout the summer, but Reading Dogs will continue to be at the library on the 3rd Wednesday at 3:00pm (sign-up is required). The library will also have special programs, throughout the summer.

Writing Critique Group
On June 3rd at 6:00pm we will be continuing our new writing critique group with librarians and writers Aimee and Ona. Bring a poem or short exerpt of fiction or other writing.

Open-Mic: Park Bench Poetry
On June 12th at 2:00 pm (sign up begins 1:45) the Hoboken Library proudly presents the return of our summer Open-Mic series in the Church Square Park pavilion. Local poets please come share your work! We will have light refreshments and feature a special musical guest at each open mike. On June 12th, the Third Wheel Band will perform.

The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Dessert
On Tuesday, June 15th at 2:00 pm, join us for a fun road picture. Three drag queens are accompanied by an Aussie named Bob as they travel across the outback.

Movie Event: The Lady in Question is Charles Busch
In honor LGBT Pride Month, on June 17th at 5:45 come see the "drag to riches story" of Charles Busch, NY's most celebrated gender illusionist. A Q&A with the directors John Catania & Charles Ignacio will follow the screening.

Indoor Herb Gardening
Laura Knittel will introduce participants to the fun, fragrant, and tasty experience of indoor herb gardening. This hands on workshop on June 22nd at 5:30 PM will teach the basics of growing herbs in your home. Students will plant and take home potted herbs.

Music and Spoken Word with Annie Lanzillotto
In honor of LGBT Pride month, Annie Lanzillotto will perform with her band on June 24th at 6:00 PM. She was included in Franklin Furnace’s “The History of the Future” a selection of best performance art works over the past 25 years.

Financial Series
Join us for the first of a three part series with Chris Dlugozima from the nonprofit Consumer Credit Counseling Services. The workshops will be the last Tuesday of the month at 6:00 PM. The June 29th workshop will focus on Understanding Your Credit Report.

Book Discussion
On June 30th at 2:00 PM our book discussion will feature E.L. Doctorow’s Homer and Langley, a fictional work based on two real life eccentric brothers who lived in post WWII New York. Join us for this fascinating novel and a great discussion.
