THE OYSTER WAR
Thursday, October 1st, 7 pm

In 1976, an estuary of stunning beauty was protected by the Point Reyes Wilderness Act, threatening to shut down a small, family-run oyster farm established in the 1930s. The owner vowed to take his fight to the Supreme Court.
This battle had the power to influence wilderness law for decades to come. Were the oyster farmers environmental criminals, or victims of government fraud? Nature vs. agriculture, science vs. politics, who belongs and who doesn't, and what it means to be wild.
Join us in discussion with author Summer Brennan and Ron Hine, founder of Hoboken's Fund for a Better Waterfront.
