Hoboken Family Alliance donates over $15,000 a year to various philanthropic causes though the Annual Hoboken Family Alliance Community Neighbor Grants.
Past finalists for HFA’s Annual Community Neighbor Grants include: Hoboken Historical Museum, Hoboken Shelter, HOPES Cap, Inc, Hudson CASA, Hudson County Boys and Girls Club, Hudson Milestones, In Jesus Name Charities, Jubilee Center, Mile Square Theatre, St. Francis Food Pantry, True Mentors, Women Rising and York Street Project. Each of these organizations are not-for-profit and serve children or families in Hoboken and surrounding areas. HFA’s grant money is used to directly provide a service for families or children.

Hoboken Historical Museum
Founded 1986, the Museum’s mission is to educate the public about Hoboken’s history, diverse culture, architecture and historic landmarks. Located in one of the oldest buildings on the waterfront, in the former Bethlehem Steel shipyard, at 1301 Hudson St., Hoboken, the Museum maintains a series of rotating events, lectures and educational children activities.
Hoboken Shelter
The Hoboken Shelter, established in 1982, is owned and operated by the Communities of Faith for Housing, Inc., a non-profit housing corporation made up of ministers and laity from houses of worship, as well as several Hoboken community leaders. They provide various programs and services to help prevent and end homelessness.
HOPES CAP, Inc.
HOPES CAP, Inc. (HOPES) is a Community Action Agency established in 1964 under President Lyndon B. Johnson’s administration as a result of the Economic Opportunity Act. HOPES was charged with the responsibility of combating poverty in Hudson County, New Jersey by providing a variety of social services for the community. Over the years, HOPES has remained committed to its mission of providing programs that respond to the social, educational, and training needs of low income individuals and is dedicated to the Hoboken community.
Hudson CASA
Since 2002, the trained volunteers of Hudson County CASA have been speaking up for the best interests of children in foster care. For children who have been removed from their homes because of abuse and neglect, their CASA volunteer is the one constant they can rely on. Our mission at Hudson County CASA is to find a safe and permanent home for each child we serve.
Hudson County Boys & Girls Club
For 125 years, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Hudson County has been in the forefront of youth development, working with young people from disadvantaged economic, social and family circumstances. The Boys & Girls Clubs of Hudson County has actively sought to enrich the lives of girls and boys whom other youth agencies fail to reach.
Hudson Milestones
"Hudson Milestones, seeks to build and maintain a Hudson County based organization dedicated to the care, support and advancement of people with developmental disabilities and their families towards achieving, to the maximum extent possible, the individual's life goals and establishing self-sufficiency in the community."
In Jesus Name Charities
In Jesus Name Charities is an inter-faith emergency food pantry at 411 Clinton St. (in basement of Our Lady of Grace parish center) behind Our Lady of Grace (4th and Park). The twelve religious communities of the Hoboken Clergy Coalition joined together to provide a place for those with limited or insufficient income to turn to for help in time of need.
Jubilee Center
Established as The Homework Club in 1996 , The Jubilee Center is an after school and summer camp safe haven for children in Hoboken’s public housing neighborhood with a history of poverty. The goal was to provide children with a safe and secure setting as well as provide children assistance with their growth and development.Each day over 100 children enter the Jubilee Center. The Center is committed to supplement the educational needs of children.
Mile Square Theatre
Mile Square Theatre, founded in 2003, is a leading Northern New Jersey non-profit, professional theatre, whose mission is to enrich and engage the region through the production of professional theatre and innovative arts education. while advancing theatre arts education for adults and children. MST produces professional theatre year round, including shows for young audiences.
St. Francis Food Pantry
The Parish provides service to the poor and continues today with a very active food pantry, the distribution of sandwiches at lunchtime, and work at the Hoboken Shelter. In addition, the Ministry also serves the homebound and those in nursing homes through personal visits.
True Mentors
TRUE Mentors stands for True Relationships Unearth Excellence. TRUE Mentors is Hoboken’s only nonprofit offering one-to-one mentoring program matching children ages 7 – 17 with adult mentors in the same community.
Women Rising
WomenRising is the foremost community based organization for women in Hudson County. Governed and managed by women, WomenRising assists women and their families to achieve self sufficiency and live safe, fulfilling and productive lives, through social services, economic development and advocacy services. WomenRising seeks to ensure that economically poor families' critical need for affordable housing is addressed by maintaining a close, supportive relationship with its subsidiary, Fairmount Housing & Management Corp.
York Street Project
A center for homeless and economically disadvantaged women and children; providing them with food, shelter, education, child care, counseling and advocacy. York Street's programs include Kenmare High School, St. Mary’s Residence, The Nurturing Place and St. Joseph’s Home.
