Sunday: Annual Pet Fair and Parade Returns!
Sunday, Oct. 7 from 12 - 4 p.m. (Rain date is Oct. 14)
Location: Maxwell Place Pier, near 12th St.
The Museum's 8th Annual Pet Fair and Parade returns to the upper waterfront walkway, with the added feature of an affordable microchip clinic. The parade kicks off at 1 p.m. with fun contests for Best Costume, Best Group Costume, Best Pet-Owner Look Alike, Best Trick and more! Participation is free, and the first 100 pet owners will go home with a free "doggy" bag. Costumes are encouraged but not required.
The fair is a great place to get to know local pet service providers and pick up advice, training tips and more from veterinarians, boarding facilities, trainers and dog walkers, and pet supply stores. Last year, more than 20 businesses participated in the fair and this year, the NJSPCA will offer a low-cost microchip clinic for $25, using Home Again chips. There will be treats for pets and their owners, too, thanks to a mobile dog treat vendor, a hotdog vendor and goodies from Choc-O-Pain bakery.
Pet Parade costumes optional...but encouraged!
