You are invited to attend a special Teaching and Learning Dialogue for parents of current 3rd, 4th and 5th graders. Find out what the latest research shows about how schools can help students navigate the transitional tween years. Get answers to questions like:
- What's the role of testing in middle school? How is that different from elementary school or high school?
- How important are relationships between teachers and students?
- How do school expectations change as children approach adolescence?
- How should schools attend to the social and emotional well being of older children?
- How should schools address social issues such as bullying, social media and substance abuse?
- What kinds of experiences should be built into a middle school curriculum to encourage independence and self discovery?
- What role does the middle school administration have in guiding families to the right kind of high school?
Stevens Cooperative School's Newport Campus is located directly across from the Morton Williams Market, just a short walk from either the Hoboken or Newport PATH stations. The closest parking is in the Shore Club/Morton Williams building.
This event is for parents, childcare will not be provided.
