MAD. SQ. NEWS: EARTH DAY

EARTH DAY IS EVERYDAY AT MAD. SQ. PARK!

Earth Day is on Monday, April 22 and although it may take place once a year, it is celebrated everyday here at Madison Square Park! From our vibrant and diverse horticulture to the use of eco-conscious lighting throughout the park, the Madison Square Park Conservancy proudly promotes daily environmentally-friendly practices. Encouraging change begins through leading by example, which is why the Conservancy is dedicated to beautifying the park with an eye towards the future. We even have our own compost bins located in the park which are used to help naturally nourish the rich landscape of the park.

The first official Earth Day took place on April 22, 1970, and is now celebrated in hundreds of countries across the world each year. Small changes can make a huge difference in our collective carbon footprint, so why not celebrate this rich tradition by taking an active role in your own community on Earth Day - and beyond!
