Kids’ Events Galore in December at the Hoboken Library

Make time in your busy December schedule for an overflowing schedule of kids’ events at the Hoboken library!  In addition to regularly scheduled story times, we’ll have a story time for children with special needs on Wed., Dec. 7 at 3:15 PM.  This is an inclusive story time.  Everyone is welcome, but accommodations are made for children with physical or mental handicaps. Call the library if you plan to attend.

Sat., Dec. 3 is a First Saturday Family Program featuring music and singing for all the December holidays. From tannenbaums to dreidels to Tres Reyes, all cultures will be represented in music presented by Robin Greenstein and Cecelia Kirtland.  No reservations are necessary, and everyone is invited to this family-friendly program.

Pretzel kids can learn new yoga skills with Lisa Usherovich in two age-targeted programs on Thurs., Dec. 8 at 3:15 PM (ages 3 to 6 years) and Thurs., Dec. 22 at 3:15 PM (ages 7 to 9 years).  These are demonstration classes so that you can see if your child enjoys yoga.  Registration is required.  Call the library at 1-201-420-2348.  These classes take the place of the Thursday After School Story Time for these weeks, only.

Our reading dogs will be here to listen to holiday stories or your favorite read-alouds, and we have two new dogs that are joining our program.  Children who are learning to read or need practice reading aloud can sign up to read to Sofie, Sheffield , MeLou, Raisin, or Zek.  Children must be able to read and can use the library’s books or bring a book from home.  Reserve your “poochy appointment” by calling 1-201-420-2348.

On Thurs., Dec. 15, we will celebrate the season with the world’s most famous “Jolly Old Elf.”  Librarian, Lois Gross, will read holiday stories at 3:15 PM, then Santa will be joining us from 3:30 to 5 PM.  No reservations are required, but this will be a full program and time restrictions will be observed.

On Thurs., Dec. 29 at 10:30 AM, Music Together will demonstrate their music and rhythm program for infants through age 4.  This is a one-time event, and registrations are required.  Call the library at 201-420-2348 for reservations.  This program takes the place of Toddler 1 Story Time for this day, only.

Call the library at 201-420-2348 for information on this or other programs in the coming year.
