Jersey City's Indian community will celebrate the 64th anniversary of India's independence on Saturday with its annual India Day Parade sponsored by the Jersey City Division of Cultural Affairs.
This year the parade's grand marshals are Jersey City Mayor Jerramiah Healy, President of the Punjabi Cultural Society Atma Singh, Dr. Sudhir Parikh and TV Asia CEO H.R. Shah.
But before Saturday's festivities kick off, the Indian flag will be raised at the county building at 257 Cornelison Ave. on Friday at 12:15 p.m. in honor of Indian Independence Day.
