Hoboken Public Library Mascot Naming Contest

The Hoboken Library is celebrating its 120th Anniversary in October.  Kids are invited to celebrate the library’s birthday by naming the library’s new mascot, the stone owl that decorates the front of the library.  Kids in grades kindergarten to 5, 6 to 8, and 9 to 12 can also submit drawings for bookmarks using the owl mascot and the slogan, “Owl C U @ HPL.” Names and drawings must be submitted on an official entry form which can be picked up at the library.  Separate winners will be picked for the owl’s name and the bookmarks. Entries must be submitted to the library by October 19. Late entries will not be considered. Students must have a Hoboken library card to participate. One entry in each category per child, please.

The winners will be announced on Tuesday, October 26 at 6:30 PM in conjunction with A “Meet the Owls” program at the Hoboken Library.  The program will feature an owl and a hawk from the Tenafly Nature Reserve, with a specialist who will talk about the birds’ habits in New Jersey . This is an open program for families. No registration is required.
