FBW/EELC Fundraiser: Tuesday, December 11

Please join the Fund for a Better Waterfront and the Eastern Environmental Law Center (EELC) on Tuesday, December 11, 2012, 7 PM for our Hoboken’s Waterfront Parks in Peril fundraising event at the Elks Club. FBW with legal representation from EELC has been working overtime to avert a series of proposals that would be disastrous for Hoboken and its waterfront:

  • Shipyard Associates have proposed the Monarch project, two high-rise towers on a pier where they had agreed to create open space. Read more.
  • The owners of Union Dry Dock are selling this prime waterfront site. An attempt by NJ Transit to purchase for shuttle bus parking and ferry repair/refueling has just been thwarted. Read more.
  • The State Assembly is now considering a bill that would exempt Stevens Institute from all local zoning and planning regulations. Read more.
  • And NJ Transit has proposed a series of high-rise towers on several superblocks at the south end of town. Read more.

We can remedy these ill-conceived proposals but need your support to do so. We have invited several speakers and there will, of course, be food, drink and entertainment. This will be a fun-filled event for a serious cause.
