About the Community Compost Company:
Community Compost Company, based in New Paltz, NY, is a local collection service that picks up food and organic materials and returns them to the earth through composting.
They offer a quality service to residences, businesses, schools and institutions while also providing education about the importance and value of reducing food waste - what they refer to as “earthcycling”.

Their goals are to help improve the health of our children and community, develop green jobs, and provide education on how to be more responsible stewards of the earth.
Up to 66% of all waste going into landfills is organic material and 25-30% of that is food waste. The Community Compost Company is committed to effecting positive change for the good of all.

About Compost:
Compost is a dark, crumbly, earthy-smelling material produced by the natural decomposition of organic materials. It is a valuable soil conditioner with many applications including agricultural, landscaping, wetlands creation and sediment control, to name a few. When added to soil, compost adds vital organic matter. It sequesters carbon, improves plant growth, conserves water, and reduces reliance on chemical pesticides and fertilizers.

Compost Benefits the Environment:
Compost mitigates climate change by reducing materials sent to a landfill and greenhouse gas emissions, creating cleaner air for us to breathe. It benefits our water supply, by not only mitigating the effects of storm water but also by improving water quality through filtering. The addition of 1 inch of compost per acre will hold an additional 16,500 gallons of water. Composting improves the health of our soil, prevents erosion, improves physical/chemical/biological properties of the soil, remediates contaminated soils, and reduces need for water and fertilizers.
