A TASTE OF HOBOKEN Returns to the Mile Square City

A TASTE OF HOBOKEN Returns to the Mile Square City

The oldest social-service organization in our area, the Hoboken-North Hudson YMCA, brings back its most popular annual fundraiser A Taste of Hoboken ®, on Tuesday evening, the 22nd of January at the Schaefer Center, Stevens Institute of Technology from 6pm until 9:30pm.

The talents of our local dining industry will shine once again, featuring restaurants from Hoboken and neighboring cities in Hudson County. This year sponsors currently include Amanda’s, Elysian Café, The Dining Room, Court Street, Bin 14, The Cuban, Zafra, Cucharamana, The Madison, Clinton Social, Windmill, Turtle Club, Son of Cuban, Ultramarinos, Vito’s Deli, Margherita’s, Ben & Jerrys, Hotel Victor, Liberty House, Maritime Parc, and 340Grill. And restaurants are still being added!

In addition to food, Giannone Wine & Liquors is sponsoring 20 tables for the event, including domestic craft beers and imports, 150 wines to sample from around the world, and high end spirits. Champagne hour include Moet and Chandon along with Veuve Cliquot. Giannone is located at 55 Riverwalk Place #2 in West New York, but soon they will open a new location in Hoboken at 3rd and River Streets. Also, live music for the evening will be provided by the always popular Swingadelic, Hoboken’s own “little big band.”

Due to the generosity of all involved, 100% of the ticket price is tax deductible. “For over 140 years, we have been part of Hoboken and the north Hudson community’s history and our dedicated employees and board are working very hard to be a relevant part of its future” comments Paul Somerville, President of the Board. “But we can’t do it without you. Every community YMCA must be self-sustaining. A very common misconception is that we receive financial support from the National YMCA – this is not the case.”

Ken Nilsen, Chairman of the Taste of Hoboken Committee, states “Collectively, YMCAs are the largest providers of child-care services in the state of New Jersey. Locally, through our scholarship program, our facility and staff have supplied affordable, high-quality, child-care, after-school and summer camp programs so critical to working families, regardless of their ability to pay and it is our goal to return these and many other services to the community as soon as possible. We have recently completed the long-anticipated renovation of our residential facility and by attending the Taste of Hoboken you are helping the Hoboken-North Hudson YMCA fulfill its most important goal: creating strong kids, strong families, and strong communities.”
