While snow is still on the ground, summer camps are already preparing for a summer of in-person fun full of swimming, sports, arts and crafts, and more. Today, many camps are already open for registration.

It’s no surprise that summer camp will look a little bit different this year, as staff, parents, and campers adhere to COVID-19 safety precautions. While camps are still jam-packing their summer weeks with (safe!) activities to get your children off the couch and away from the TV, it’s important to know that most are planning to practice social distancing and masking, utilize small “pods,” decrease the number of campers enrolled overall, and may require quarantine efforts or testing prior to the first day. Even with these measures in place, a lot can change before June comes around, so please make sure to read each camp’s updated COVID-19 protocols and cancelation policies before registering.

There are plenty of summer camp options to choose from right here in Hoboken or in the North Jersey and New York area (most of which have bus service), if your kids are looking to escape. Options include outdoor, indoor, and virtual activities for every comfort level.
