The Hoboken Family Alliance is hosting our 10th
Annual Back to School Supplies Drive
Thursday, August 1 to Sunday September 15, 2019 to benefit children in need within Hudson County.
HFA is committed to helping children succeed by ensuring every young child is ready to learn. Children living at or below the poverty line will find it difficult to get enough to eat this summer as their parents struggle to keep the lights on and make rent – they simply cannot afford to buy backpacks and school supplies.
Our backpack and school supply donations will go to children in need from the following organizations: In Jesus Names Charities, Division of Youth Family Services (DYFS), Family Promise and York Street Project.
What’s Needed: NEW Backpacks (Unisex backpacks are preferred if possible), lunch boxes, pencils, pens, pink erasers, two-pocket folders, binders, loose-leaf paper (wide rule), 1-5 subject notebooks (both spiral & composition), scientific calculators, protractors, crayons, colored pencils, markers, calculators, rulers, pencil sharpeners with cover, pencil cases, glue sticks, scissors, index cards, etc. Flash drives are also requested for the older children.
Two options are available: 1) Financial Donations or 2) Drop off Donations
If you choose to drop off donations, we will have a drop box at Big Fun Toys, Apple Montessori & Kaplan School - United Synagogue. Big Fun Toys will be selling backpacks and some school supplies too. * Your HFA CARD provides a 10% discount off any purchase over $25 - www.bigfuntoys.com
DROP OFF: Sunday, August 11 to Sunday, September 15, 2019 at Big Fun Toys, 602 Washington Street, Hoboken (Mon-Sat. 10-7pm, Sun . 11-6 pm ), Apple Montessori, 220 Sinatra Dr & 1055 Maxwell Ln (Mon-Fri 7am-7pm) and Kaplan School- United Synagogue, 115 Park Avenue (Mon-Fri 8-6pm)
FINANCIAL DONATION: Your donation of $25 will provide one backpack for a child, stocked with essential supplies. Financial donations are encouraged because HFA’s non-profit status allows it to purchase items without paying 7% sales tax.

If a child is prepared for the first day of school with a backpack and the right school supplies, the child will have the confidence to work towards having a successful school year.
