2016 Novella Night Library Fundraiser, Volunteer Hosts Wanted

The 2016 Novella Night helps the Friends of the Hoboken Public Library raise money for key initiatives and renovations at the Library. We are proud to announce that Novella Night will take place again this year, on Saturday, October 15, and hope that you will consider hosting a party in your home.

Novella Night parties are “lite” versions of Novel Night dinners, which are sit-down affairs with menus built around books. Most Novella Night hosts structure their parties as informal cocktail parties, with or without literary themes, but other approaches such as an afternoon tea are welcome. Because of the enthusiasm and hospitality of our Novella Night hosts, these parties are always considered “special occasions” by those in attendance. The number of guests you can accommodate depends on the size of your home, but we suggest a minimum of eight. There is no set time to begin or end; it is entirely up to your creativity as the host! Though the expenses incurred in hosting are yours, they are tax deductible.

Our 2016 Novella Night proceeds will go directly to building a testing lab in the newly renovated basement of the Hoboken Public Library. While it will accommodate many different types of computer- based tests, it will be the first and only GED testing site in all of Hudson County! The lab is anticipated to be fully operational by the end of 2016. To achieve this goal, the suggested per person donation is $75.

The Friends can provide you with a beautiful graphic image to use in invitations for your party guests and can offer guidance about payment methods for guests; donations and answer other questions you may have as October 15 approaches.
