HOBOKEN, NJ — The Hoboken Family Alliance recently wrapped up its 9th Annual hosting of the Hoboken Bike Camp. As the local host operating in conjunction with the national organization iCanBike, HFA has helped teach more than 150 individuals with disabilities to learn to ride a two-wheel bicycle independently. With the help of a committed crew of about 50 volunteers and two professionals from iCanBike, camp participants learn to ride with an 80% success rate based on a proprietary protocol that helps advance riders through a series of bikes with a specialized wheel. Within five, days 8 out of 10 riders are able to ride independently.
Next year's camp will run June 28-July 3 and is funded through two fundraisers, Mutzfest and the Ben & Jerry's School Spirit Event.
